What does a board-certified prosthodontist do?
A board-certified prosthodontist is a dental specialist who has completed their general dentistry training and moved on to complete an additional three years of advanced training in prosthodontics. Prosthodontists are recognized as experts in the field of restorative and cosmetic dentistry, and they are highly skilled in design, fabrication, and placement of dental prosthesis such as dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, and dental veneers, etc.
To become a board-certified prosthodontist in the United States, a prosthodontist must gain certification through the American Board of Prosthodontics (ABP). This involves a rigorous examination process, including both written and oral exams, and requires ongoing education and training to maintain their certification.
